Generis operates in the dynamic yet challenging smart meters market, which is part of a sector currently undergoing a vast digital transformation. The brand wanted to gain a voice on topical industry issues; however, given the volatility around the Government’s smart meter rollout, this needed to be managed carefully with many different stakeholders and influencers to take into consideration.

Our Work

Firework started by helping the Generis team to create brand messaging which we based on careful media monitoring of the energy sector. We identified appropriate and relevant industry issues that Generis could comment on such as the transformation of the Digital Grid and developed positive messaging around the rollout of smart meters and the technology solutions that can be provided to support smart energy consumption.

The Journey

Firework devised a social media campaign to engage with issues such as the digitalisation of the UK energy sector and create dialogue with politicians, thought leaders, industry bodies and energy correspondents. To keep pace with industry commentary, Firework tracked and monitored sector media coverage and developed a bank of thought leadership blogs covering the myths behind smart meters, the digital grid and observations from the first Data Communications Company (DCC) Summit.

The Results

The campaign has given Generis a voice to comment on the issues surrounding its sector. Using social media, the business has been able to interpret the technological changes and energy reforms for its customers, enabling it to be positioned as a trusted advisor and securing coverage in influential trade title, Utility Week. As well as raising the brand’s profile, the social media campaign has also delivered direct new business enquiries for the business, demonstrating the value of original thought leadership content.
